Terms of Service
Last updated July 2, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of HumanPhrase (the “Service”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
HumanPhrase rewrites text you provide into alternative versions in a more natural, human-sounding register. For each request we generate several candidate rewrites and return a selection for you to choose from. The Service is a writing aid; you remain the author and are responsible for reviewing, editing, and deciding how to use any output.
2. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- One person or entity per account. Creating multiple accounts to bypass free-trial, rate, or usage limits is prohibited (see Section 5).
3. Credits & billing
- The Service is billed per word. One credit equals one word, priced at $0.001 per word. The Bold rewrite mode is charged at a 1.5× multiplier.
- You are charged based on the word count of the text you submit for a rewrite. If a rewrite fails or times out, the corresponding credits are automatically refunded to your balance.
- A free trial is available before signing up. Purchased credits do not expire. During early access, an account may hold at most US$20 of credits at a time.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. By purchasing credits you authorize the applicable charge.
- Prices are shown in US dollars and are exclusive of any taxes that may apply.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
4. Your content & outputs
- You retain ownership of the text you submit (“Input”). You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit it and to have it processed by the Service.
- As between you and us, you own the rewritten text we return to you (“Output”), subject to your compliance with these Terms.
- You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, and use Input and Output as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including to train, fine-tune, and evaluate our models, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- You are solely responsible for how you use Output, including compliance with the academic-integrity, editorial, or publication rules of any institution, publisher, or third party that applies to you.
5. Acceptable use
You may not, directly or indirectly:
- Use any programmatic or automated means to extract, scrape, or collect Outputs from the Service in bulk.
- Use Outputs to train, fine-tune, distill, or otherwise build a competing machine-learning model, whether for your own use or for distribution.
- Reverse-engineer, probe, or attempt to discover the internal prompts, model weights, configuration, or other proprietary components of the Service.
- Operate multiple accounts to circumvent free-trial limits, rate limits, or per-account usage caps.
- Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit, or use the Service to produce content for unlawful, deceptive, or harmful purposes.
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Violation of this section is grounds for immediate suspension or termination without refund and may result in additional legal remedies.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, models, prompts, design, and trademarks, is owned by us and our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you no rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described here.
7. No guarantee of results
We continually improve output quality, but we do not warrant that any Output will meet a particular standard, be free of errors, or produce any specific result with any third-party tool or reviewer. You are responsible for reviewing and editing Output before you rely on or publish it.
8. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, to protect the Service or other users, or to comply with law. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4–6 and 9–11) will survive.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US$50.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your Input, your use of Output, or your breach of these Terms.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Hong Kong will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either party may seek injunctive relief where available.
